Newent
Newent is a small market town about 8 miles north west of Gloucester. Close by lie the ancient woodlands of the Forest of Dean, the Severn and Wye Valleys, the Malvern Hills and our local landmark, the pine-topped May Hill.
Dominating the centre of Newent is the 17th century black and white Market House. Many more historic listed buildings are to be found in the main streets and the main recreational area is around Newent Lake.
Surrounding the town is the Golden Triangle – a seasonal proliferation of wild daffodils which has attracted visitors to the area for many decades.
u3a - who are we?
u3a is a UK-wide movement of locally-run interest groups that provide a wide range of opportunities to come together to learn for fun. Members explore new ideas, skills and activities together.
There are over 1000 u3as with around 400,000 members and they are open to everyone who’s not working full-time.
u3a has members who draw upon their knowledge and experience to teach and learn from each other but there are no exams to pass – it is just for pleasure. Learning is its own reward.
It's all voluntary. A typical u3a will be home to many activity groups covering a wide range of activities.

Cotswold Link
The Cotswold Link is a network of u3as within Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Newent & District u3a are often represented by one of our committee members at forums where they can meet members from local u3as to exchange ideas and information and report back to the committee of any future initiatives and events.

Newent & District u3a
At Newent & District u3a we hold monthly meetings where we often invite a guest speaker or we host a Cuppa, Cake & Chat social event. We have 23 interest groups which offer a wide range of activities to stimulate the mind, to keep us moving, to visit new places or simply to keep in touch with others.
We hold regular Open Days and other promotional events to attract new members.
In 2023 we celebrated our 10th Anniversary with a party at Newent Memorial Hall.
